As these ecosystems are currently facing a myriad of threats, it is essential to develop and implement effective strategies for their conservation and restoration. This article explores the various characteristics of terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems, the challenges they face, and the innovative solutions that are being developed to ensure their long-term health and resilience.

Understanding Terrestrial and Freshwater Ecosystems

A comprehensive understanding of terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems is crucial for developing appropriate conservation strategies. These ecosystems make up a significant portion of the Earth’s surface and are responsible for maintaining the health of the environment and supporting biodiversity.

Characteristics of Terrestrial Ecosystems

Terrestrial ecosystems are those found on land, encompassing a wide range of environments such as forests, grasslands, deserts and tundra.
