Overview

Welcome to Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands. And say hello to the charming seaside town of Argostoli, where our research station is based. As a GVI volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in the protection of loggerhead turtle nesting areas and green turtle foraging spots in this stunning part of Greece.

We’ll work together to monitor and safeguard these magnificent marine species. Your days will be filled with hands-on experiences, actively preserving turtle habitats and ensuring their safe journey from nest to sea.

Through thorough training, you’ll learn to assess injuries and observe sea turtle behaviour. You’ll also get the chance to share your passion for these amazing animals with fellow visitors, spreading turtle love worldwide.

And when you’re not busy with conservation work, spend your free time taking in the beauty of Kefalonia. From dreamy beaches to hidden coves, this island has it all. Oh, and let’s not forget about indulging in some seriously delicious Greek cuisine – souvlaki, anyone?

Join us in Kefalonia for an extraordinary conservation adventure that leaves a lasting legacy on the endangered loggerhead sea turtles that call this area home.
